The airside operations infrastructure at DPS supports the airport’s 24-hour commercial operations across domestic and international services. The apron area spans multiple zones accommodating simultaneous handling of wide-body, narrow-body, and general aviation aircraft. Twenty-nine aerobridges serve contact stands across both terminals, with additional remote stands accessed via apron buses.

Ground handling operations are supported by dedicated GSE staging areas positioned strategically across the apron for rapid equipment deployment. The airside road network connects all operational areas with controlled access through security checkpoints managed by AVSEC (Aviation Security).

Cargo Complex & Freight Facilities

The DPS cargo complex, operated by Angkasa Pura Logistik, handles approximately 78,000 tons of cargo per quarter with a 9% year-on-year growth trajectory driven by Bali’s expanding export economy and e-commerce volumes. The facility includes an import warehouse for incoming air cargo with customs examination areas and secure bonded storage, an export warehouse for outbound cargo with acceptance, screening, and airline build-up zones, cold storage facilities maintaining temperature ranges from -25°C to +25°C for perishable exports (seafood, tropical flowers, agricultural products), dangerous goods storage compliant with IATA DGR regulations for hazardous materials transit, and an express cargo facility for courier and e-commerce shipments.

Bali Ground Handling operates cargo handling services within these facilities, providing acceptance through delivery for import and export cargo. Our cargo team coordinates with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and cargo operators to ensure efficient cargo flow through the DPS supply chain.

Fuel Farm & Fuel Distribution

Aviation fuel at DPS is supplied through Pertamina’s on-airport fuel farm, one of the largest aviation fuel storage facilities in eastern Indonesia. The facility stores Jet A-1 fuel meeting international quality standards (AFQRJOS specifications, JIG compliance). Fuel distribution is via a hydrant system installed at major international and domestic stands, providing pressurized fuel delivery directly to aircraft without bowser trucks. Stands not connected to the hydrant system are serviced by fuel bowsers operated by Pertamina’s into-plane agents.

Fuel quality is monitored through continuous testing at storage, distribution, and delivery points per IATA Fuel Quality Pool standards. Bali Ground Handling’s fuel coordination service manages the interface between airlines and Pertamina, ensuring correct fuel grades, quantities, and delivery timing for every departure.

Aircraft Maintenance Facilities

DPS provides line maintenance and limited base maintenance capabilities for aircraft operating at the airport. Garuda Indonesia Maintenance Facility (GMF) operates a line maintenance station at DPS covering A-check and transit check capabilities for A320 and B737 aircraft families. Third-party MRO providers offer AOG (Aircraft on Ground) response services for non-base airlines. Component workshops provide wheel, brake, and battery servicing capability.

The VIP Terminal provides exclusive processing for corporate executives, celebrities, and high-net-worth travelers with private immigration, customs, and luxury lounge facilities. Multiple airline lounges in the international departure area serve premium cabin passengers and frequent flyers.

Safety & Emergency Services

The airport maintains ICAO Category 9 Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) capability, the second-highest international category. The fire station houses foam tenders, rapid intervention vehicles, and water tenders capable of responding to any point on the runway within the required 3-minute response time. Firefighting agents include AFFF (Aqueous Film Forming Foam), dry chemical powder, and CO2 for different fire scenarios. The airport medical facility provides first aid, paramedic response, and ambulance transport to local hospitals. The Aerodrome Emergency Plan (AEP) is tested through annual full-scale exercises coordinated with local emergency services and airline operators.

Ground Transportation & Access

The airport is connected to Bali’s road network via the Ngurah Rai bypass road and the Mandara toll road to Nusa Dua. Ground transportation options include official airport taxi service, ride-hailing pickup zones, hotel shuttle bus areas, car rental facilities, and public bus connections. A multi-story parking facility accommodates private vehicles, with dedicated drop-off zones for departing passengers.

For crew transportation, our dedicated fleet provides reliable transfer between the airport and approved crew hotels. VIP guests using our VIP terminal services benefit from private vehicle access directly to the VIP facility, bypassing public transportation areas.

Does DPS have a cargo cold chain facility?

Yes, the DPS cargo complex includes temperature-controlled storage ranging from -25°C to +25°C, supporting Bali’s significant perishable export market including fresh seafood to Japan and South Korea, tropical flowers and plants, and pharmaceutical products requiring cold chain compliance. Our cargo handling team manages cold chain integrity from cargo acceptance through aircraft loading.

What maintenance capabilities are available at DPS?

DPS offers line maintenance through GMF (Garuda Maintenance Facility) and third-party providers, covering transit checks, A-checks for common aircraft types, AOG response, and component services. Base maintenance (C-check and above) requires ferry flights to major MRO facilities in Jakarta or Singapore. Is there a general aviation terminal at Bali airport?

DPS has a dedicated general aviation apron area for private and business aviation aircraft, though it does not have a standalone FBO terminal building.
